  • GUNNAR BERGDAHL

    SWEDEN

    Born in 1951. A film programmer and a journalist by trade, founded the cinema magazine "Filmkonst" in 1989. Since 1994 till 2003, he was the director of the Gotebûrg Film Festival, transferred his passion for film from in front of the screen to behind the camera. His filmography consists of The Voice of Bergman (1997); The Voice of Ljudmila; Ingmar Bergman: Intermezzo (2002) and a short The Voice of Silence (2002).
  • PETER VAN BUEREN

    NETHERLANDS

    Born in 1942 in Amsterdam. Studied political and social sciences. Has written about cinema since 1964, last 30 years mainly for the Dutch daily De Volkskrant, sponsor of the International Film Festival Rotterdam. In 2002 he left this newspaper and received a Life Time Achievement Award from the Rotterdam festival. Since then he freelances, especially for the filmmagazine Skrien. Works also for the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam, and is a member of the selection committee of the Jan Vrijman Fund. Co-founder of the Dutch circle of film-critics, the Dutch section of FIPRESCI. He is a member of the board.

  • LUDMILA CVIKOVA

    NETHERLANDS

    Studied philology at the Comenius University in Bratislava and the University of Amsterdam, and holds a European diploma in Cultural Project Management. She is a consultant and advisor for various festivals. Since 1997, Cvikova has been Programmer (specialization: Eastern and Central European Films) for the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Cvikova has been a jury member in different international film festivals.

    Film director. Born in 1938. Graduated from Moscow Film Institute (VGIK) in 1965 . Shot more than 40 films, many of them highly appreciated in international film festivals. Litvyakov is an active promoter of documentary cinema. In 1988 he was selected as general director of the Message to Man Saint Petersburg International FF.

    BULGARIA

    Graduated from theater & cinema studies at the National Academy for Theater and Film Art /1988/. Since October 1996 is Head of International Relations, Festivals & Promotion of the Bulgarian National Film Center. Author and translator of numerous articles, interviews and reviews for magazines and newspapers on theater and cinema topics, editor and author. Organizer of the International Festival of European co-productions (Sofia), the Festival of Bulgarian feature film Golden Rose (Varna) and the Festival of Bulgarian documentary and animation films Golden Rhyton (Plovdiv). National coordinator for the European Audiovisual Observatory. National representative at the South East European Cinema Network /SEE CN/.

    NETHERLANDS

    Studied film and theater science at the University of Utrecht. In 1988 she started, with help of the Netherlands Film Institute, the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam (IDFA). Since 1989 she is the director of IDFA. Ally is director of the Jan Vrijman Fund and head of the selection committee of the Jan Vrijman Fund that supports documentary filmmakers in developing countries. She also is a member of the advisory committee of the Amnesty International Filmfestival Amsterdam. She was a jury member of many international festivals.

    Born in 1946, M.A. in art history (Moscow University), professor, Ph.D. in cultural studies, Director of the Russian Institute for Cultural Research, author of 14 books and more than 300 articles on art history, film and the media, cultural policy and development. Organiser of film festivals and TV programmes on film and art. Previous positions: researcher at the Russian Film Archive (Gosfilmofond), special assistant to the president of the State Film Committee, professor of film history, media and cultural studies at the State Film Institute (VGIK), High courses for film directors and script writers and the Institute for European culture in Moscow.

    Graduated from the Department of Journalism, Leningrad State University. Since 1985, she has worked as reporter, columnist for "Vecherniy Leningrad" (now "Vecherniy Petersburg") newspaper. Since 1994 - she has been head of the Culture Department in "Vecherniy Petersburg". Her articles were published in many periodicals. Olga Sherwood took part in selection for the Message to Man Int'l Film Festival. Also worked as a Jury member for Kinoshok and Piterkit film festivals.

    Born in 1929 in Arak (Iran). 1946 - his family moved to Soviet Armenia. 1954 - graduated from Yerevan Conservatory. 1962 - graduated from the Directing Department of VGIK. Since 1962 he has been working as a film director at Hayfilm Studio. His first film, Fired Lever, was a breath of fresh air for Armenian cinema. Has shot documentaries and animation films as well.
  • ALBERT YAVURYAN

    ARMENIA

    Born in 1935 in Leninakan (now Gyumry). 1964 - graduated from the Cinematographer Department of VGIK (L.Kosmatov's master-class). Acted as the director of photography on S.Paradjanov's "Ashik Kerib" and the unfinished "Confession." He is the Head of Cinema Department of Armenian State Pedagogical Institute, professor.
  • KAREN GEVORGYAN

    ARMENIA

    Born in 1941 in Yerevan. 1963 - graduated from the Cinematography Department of VGIK. 1963-64 - worked at Armenfilm Studio. 1967- graduated from the Advanced Directing Courses in Moscow. Worked in Mosfilm Studio, Tsentrnauchfilm, Yerevan Studio of Documentary Films. 1970-81-worked at Armenfilm Studio, from where he was banished after the film "Farewell Beyond the Border" was banned. Later worked at Lenfilm Studio and Dovzhenko Film Studio in Kiev. In 1992 he established his own independent Studio "Navigator."
  • MALKHAZ KUKHIANIDZE

    GEORGIA

    Born in 1962 in Tbilisi. Since 1979, he has worked as an actor at the Film Actors Theatre of Georgia Film Studio. Studied theatre and cinema at Tbilisi Institute of Cinema and Theatre. As a director he made a number of animation films and documentaries. Since 1996, he is president of the Georgian Independent Cinema-Video Filmmakers Association.

    Born in 1938 in Yerevan. 1960-64 - studied in the Department of Philology of Yerevan State University. At the same time worked at the newspaper "Hayastani Fizkulturnik" and published caricatures in many newspapers and magazines. 1972 - graduated from the Directing Department of VGIK. Since 1971 - worked as a film director at Yerevan Studio of Documentary Films. Author of about 40 documentaries, some features and animated films.

    Born in 1953 in Yerevan. 1970 - he graduated from the Physics Department of Yerevan State University. 1979-84 - he studied documentary and television film directing at Moscow High Film School, VGIK. Since 1984 he has been documentary film director at Armenian Documentary Film Studio (Hayk). Since 2004 he is general producer of Yerkir TV channel.

    Born in 1927 in Maykop. In 1947 graduated from Terlemezyan Art College. In 1954 graduated from the Art Department of VGIK. Works at Hayfilm Studio as a art director and director of animated films. In the 1960s, along with Valentin Podpomogov and R.P.Babayan revived the Armenian cartoon animations.

    Born in 1951 in Yerevan.Since 1970, he has worked in the animation department of Hayfilm. In 1972, he was trained at Soyuzmultfilm Studio (Moscow). Since 1977 he has been working as art director and film director for animated films.

    Graduated from Yerevan State Institute of Fine Arts in 1993, the Department of Cinema and Theater History and Criticism. The topic of her diploma thesis was “Theater in Ingmar Bergman’s Films”. From 1993 to 1996, she worked as a researcher and editor at the Armenian National Cinematheque. Since 1996, she has taught history of foreign cinema at the State Institute of Fine Arts. At the same time she collaborates with the following publications: ”Zerkalo”, ”Respublika Armenia”, ”Kino”, ”Novoye Vremya” , “Armenian Aktuell”, and “Ar ” and “Prometevs” independent TV channels.
