On December 4 – 8, Turkish–Armenian 2nd Cinema Workshop which was organized by the cooperative initiatives of Golden Apricot International Film Festival and Anadolu Kültür association (Turkey) took place in Yerevan within the framework of Armenian– Turkish Cultural Initiative. Armenian Writer’s Union also joined to initiative. The workshop was entitled “Cinema as Means of Cross-Border Dialogue and Mutual Understanding” and aimed to encourage cross-border dialogue and mutual understanding via means of cinema. It focused on the possibilities of co-production between Armenian and Turkish film directors and producers. Ten young Turkish filmmakers, script-writers and film-journalists invited by the Golden Apricot IFF will visit Armenia to participate in the 2nd Turkish–Armenian Film Workshop which will take place in Yerevan on December 4 – 7. This is the second year Golden Apricot Yerevan IFF presents selection of prize winner films from its recent edition in Akhalkalaki. This year the program consists of three feature films, including the Main Prize Winner of the 6th GAIFF – George Ovashvili's “The Other Bank” as well as Harutyun Khachatryan’s “Border”.
The international jury awards of the 6th Golden Apricot International Film Festival went to
Hollywood Foreign Press Association awarded GAIFF with an award which is the worthy estimation of the Armenian International Film Festival by this prestigious organization of cinema journalists and film critics.
“I do not know what cinema is, I do not know what this film is, but this man is a genius. Hold both hands of this man firmly and keep him in Armenia,” said Martiros Saryan after watching “Colour of the Pomegranate”.
