SYNOPSIS

Full Contact is a contemporary tale of a man who accidentally bombed a school through a remotely operated drone plane. Ivan, operating the plane from a far away air force base, has never been to the foreign countries of his attacks, nor has he ever touched the plane he uses to kill. Modern warfare keeps him safe and disconnected from his prey. However, after this incident Ivan's disconnectedness starts to apply to everything in his life. He is unable to get the men he killed out of his head and from there on the narrative melts down to become a roadmovie of the subconscious. His attraction to a girl he recently met, Cindy, his guilt & curiosity about his victims all echo on and on towards a point of full awareness of what he has done and who he is.

David Verbeek

David Verbeek graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy in Amsterdam in 2005 and then studied philosophy and photography in New York. During his studies, he directed his first feature Beat on a €500 budget. It was subsequently shown at the Rotterdam IFF and distributed in Dutch theatres. After graduating he left for China, returning three years later with his second feature Shanghai Trance, a cinematic portrait of Shanghai that depicts a generation of young Chinese, bedazzled by a city that is changing faster than they can grow up. The film was released in China in over 250 cinemas and in late 2008, David made the front page of the Volkskrant newspaper for being the first Dutch director to achieve this. He directed his subsequent feature R UThere in Taiwan in 2010. The film, about immersing oneself in virtual reality, was shown in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section in Cannes. How to Describe a Cloud was shot on a limited budget during preparations for his next film, Dead & Beautiful. Full Contact is his 6th feature film.
