Cristian Mungiu (born 27.04.1968, Iasi, Romania)
Cristian Mungiu, born in Iaşi, Romania, in 1968, is a Romanian filmmaker. After studying English literature at University of Iaşi, he worked for several years as a teacher and as a journalist. In 1998, he graduated from University of Film in Bucharest, Film Directing Department. After several short films he debuted with his first feature film, highly successful Occident in 2002. In 2007. he won the Palme d'Or for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days and in 2026, became one of the few directors in history to win the prize twice with Fjord.
