in focus

While maintaining the fundamental objectives of GAIFF - encouragement of networking and cultural exchange across borders, and preservation of the cultural diversity of the region - the festival adds a new section to its activities. In Focus brings a specific topic/region/idea/concept to the spotlight, opening a new discourse on its cinematic establishment and further prospects of development. Every year we will study the focus of the program in detail, discuss its success stories in films and help build a platform for its new strategic planning.

In Focus 2019 will cover Poland. In cooperation with Adam Mickiewicz Institute, program will organize various events to bring Polish culture closer. In addition to panel discussions, talks and training, program will include screenings of contemporary and classic films.

The opening of In Focus program will take place on July 8th, with the screening of HOURGLASS SANATORIUM, 1973 by Wojciech Jerzy Has. Special exhibition of the director's film posters will be open during the whole festival period.
