Golden Apricot Yerevan IFF and Monopoli Sudestival enhance cooperation

On May 24, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Golden Apricot Yerevan IFF (Armenia) and Monopoli Sudestival (Italy) at the hall of the Union of Cinematographers of Armenia.
During a ceremony Founder, President of the Golden Apricot Yerevan IFF Harutyun Khachatryan and Artistic Director of the Sudestival Michele Suma singned the memorandum.
According to the memorandum, the parties intend to start regular cultural cooperation and exchange. The organizational structures of the two festivals will work independently, but in constant communication, to open cinema departments in their respective countries in order to guarantee the Italian cinema section at Golden Apricot and the Armenian Cinema Day at Sudestival.
The memorandum will be valid for a period of three years till 2023. The memorandum can be subject of restoration in 2023, provided that the parties will be equally satisfied with the cooperation and its cultural results.
During the ceremony Founder, President of the Golden Apricot Yerevan IFF Harutyun Khachatryan noted that he attended Sudestival in Italy and was delighted with the local hospitality. The signing of the memorandum will further strengthen the bilateral cooperation, which Harutyun Khachatryan considers important.
Artistic Director of the Sudestival Michele Suma noted that he and Harutyun Khachatryan believe that cinema is the best way to the unique meetings and to understand each other. "It is important for Armenia to be part of Sudestival, which is also very important for the Armenian community in Italy,"- Michele Suma noted, adding that Sudestival is mainly engaged in contemporary Italian cinema and they can present new Italian films to the Armenian festival.
From May 22 to 25 within the framework of the Europe Day in Armenia Sudestival Italian Film Festival is held in Armenia, which is being hosted here by the initiative of Italian Ambassador to Armenia Vincenzo Del Monaco for the second time. Within the framework of the festival master classes are held by renowned Italian screenwriter Salvatore De Mola, as well as screening of modern Italian films is organized.
The signing of the memorandum between the two festivals is a great contribution of Italian Ambassador to Armenia Vincenzo Del Monaco, who also attended the signing ceremony.
"Armenia and Italy have rich cinema and this contributes to the strengthening of bilateral relations. I wish the greatest success to both festivals and I am ready to show my support”,-the ambassador noted. By the way, Italian cinema and Italian cinema figures will be part of this year's Golden Apricot and more information about this cooperation will be provided soon.
