Golden Apricot continues cooperation with foreign embassies and international organizations

Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival continues close cooperation with foreign embassies and international organizations in RA. The representatives of the festival announced this during the press conference held on July 7.
During 18 years of its existence, Golden Apricot Festival has been always the place where French cinema and French film heritage were presented best in the best possible way. This year’s edition will be marked with 100 years anniversary of prominent French film director Alain Resnais. Golden Apricot 2022’s Special Guest will be prominent French director Costa Gavras.

French Film Day and French Showcase at the 19th GAIFF

We are planning to present a number of premiers of recent French films and French co-productions recently presented at Berinale 2022 and Cannes 2022. There will be traditional French Film Day in the frames of festival program to honor the French Cinema and underline on-going collaboration with French Embassy. At the French Film Day  we will present the special screening (Yerevan premier) of Claire Denis’ latest film from Cannes 2022 Main Competition program.

ACid Cannes Spéciale

This year we will have "ACid Cannes Spéciale " - showcase of 5 films curated by French association of film directors which, since 1992, has been promoting the cinema distribution of independent films and encouraging debates between authors and audiences. The program will be curated presented by Pauline Ginot (ACid Cannes Director). The program will be open with the film SWAGGER by Olivier Babinet.

Film director Florian Hoffmann will be a member of International Jury at this year GAIFF.

FLORIAN HOFFMANN

Florian Hoffmann was born in Berlin in 1987. After graduating from high school, he worked in foreign aid in West Africa. In 2008, he began his studies in ethnology, sociology and political science at University of Basel, Switzerland. Upon graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree, Hoffman took up his directorial studies at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb). As of 2015, he has directed multiple award winning feature and documentary films. From 2016 on, he regularly taught for the Goethe-Institut Abidjan, the Heinrich Böll Foundation, as well as for the Television Workshop on Development Policy. Between 2019 - 21 Florian functioned as a technical assistant for Carolin Emcke's and  Manuela Bojadžijev's video installation Archive of Refuge (HKW, Berlin). Since 2021, he has been assisting directors such as Kornél Mundruczó, René Pollesch and Julien Gosselin at the Berlin Theatre Volksbühne. Florian was a jury member at the Dokfilmfestival München (2016), a juror of the Berlinale "Friedenspreis" (2018) and was selected as a "Berlinale Talent" in 2022.  
In cooperation with the US Embassy, the film program of the Sundance Film Festival will be presented within the framework of "Golden Apricot".

And the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in RA will support the publication of the festival daily newspaper.
Famous filmmakers will also arrive in Armenia within the framework of cooperation with international partners.
Within the framework of the festival, active cooperation is also carried out with the Armenian General Benevolent Union, where traditional rendezvous will be held.
GAIFF Pro production platform of the festival will be held with the support of AGBU and Creative Armenia.
GAIFF Pro 2022 will feature a range of 12 projects and 4 work-in-progress films in the Co-Production Market. Designed for emerging filmmakers of the Western Asia Region, it aims to help filmmakers develop their first or second feature film projects. Throughout the week, project representatives will have the opportunity to work with film and industry professionals from around the world and pitch their projects.
