News /Eng
The Golden Apricot International Film Festival continues its close collaboration with foreign embassies and international organizations in Armenia.

In partnership with the Embassy of France in Armenia and the French Institute in Armenia, the festival will present a rich program of French cinema to Armenian audiences. As part of the traditional French Cinema Day, the Armenian premiere of Anne-Sophie Baille’s film All of Me will take place. The French program will also feature several competition films from the Berlin and Cannes Film Festivals, including The Ice Tower by Lucile Hadžihalilović, The Orphan by Oliver Laxe Corro, Take Your Heart and Walk by Sepideh Farsi, My Armenian Ghosts by Tamara Stepanyan, and others.

With the support of the French Institute, renowned film director and Cannes and César award-winner Abderrahmane Sissako will visit Armenia. He will serve as the head of the international competition jury. A retrospective screening of Sissako’s films will also be presented.

The festival will also host globally acclaimed French photographer and filmmaker Antoine d’Agata, known for his provocative explorations of taboos and obsessions.

In collaboration with the Goethe-Institut in Armenia, the traditional Made in Germany program will once again be held in Yerevan. The lineup includes Afire by Christian Petzold, Abou Zaabal 89 by Bassam Mortada, Two Prosecutors by Sergei Loznitsa, and Gor: A Refugee from Nagorno-Karabakh by Katja Fedulova.

A notable highlight this year is the participation of German director Fred Kelemen as a mentor for the Apricot Stone short film competition. He will also conduct a masterclass for young Armenian filmmakers.

As in previous years, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will support the publication of the festival’s daily newspaper.

Joining the Golden Apricot’s international partners this year is the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, whose support will bring screenings of Young Mothers by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, and On the Edge of the World by Sofie Muzelle and Geren van de Voort.

GAIFF’s co-production platform events will take place from July 14 to 18 alongside the film festival. The production platform operates in collaboration with the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). The festival’s traditional and well-loved masterclasses and meetings will be held at AGBU Armenia and the Cinema House, both partners of Golden Apricot.
