Alan Parker (1944 - 2020)
From 1969-78 Alan Parker directed over 500 television commercials. He made his first film for television in 1974 and his debut as a feature film director, Bugsy Malone, in 1975. Parker also wrote a novel based on the film’s screenplay. He has published two books of cartoons and was a founding member of the Directors Guild of Great Britain. Sir Alan Parker took up the chair of the British Film Council in 1999.
